Detroit is down to its final road trip to Washington. If General Motors (NYSE:GM), Ford (NYSE:F) and Chrysler cannot get their bailout this time, trouble lies ahead. Instead of relying on outdated business-school theories, it is time to get innovative.

Detroit Pandering: A lesson to be learned

At this point in time, I think it is appropriate to really think of new and better ways to improve the economy and eventually the lives of everyone.

The Japanese took a lot of the car market away from them, because Detroit has no clue how to engineer or build a car anywhere near as reliable as the ones Japan makes.

And now that gas prices are up, the fashion accessory truck market is failing them, too.
