All the private loans Ive looked at say I need a cosigner or I must be credit worthy but Im only 18.

Request the loan in your own name without mentioning your parents. You will be the sole responsible person for the repayment... if you are old enough...

Your parents being turned down might be for the best. Use your own name! You are not required to have a cosignor for a student loan.

Well you can always get student loans though the government. They have some really good programs to help you out. There's also Sallie Mae. My husband and I went though them and they offer me a really good deal on consilidating too. Most loans that you can get won't go into repayment until after you graduate.

Have you filled out the fafsa? By filling out this form, you become eligible for federal grants and loans. Your parents can apply for the PLUS loan through the school you're planning to attend. Even if they have bad credit, they still need to apply. There's a section on the application for you, the student, to fill out in which you're pretty much giving the federal government permission to issue a loan in your name if your parents are turned down for a loan. Your parents can apply for the Parent PLUS loan (which will allow you to choose a lender) - if they are denied based on poor credit, fax that denial letter to your university's financial aid office. They should award you additional unsubsidized Stafford loan - $4,000 for freshman/sophomore, $5,000 for junior/senior.
