The batch process is typically configured to happen once daily at a predetermined time oftentimes this is set to the same time as the system's 'end of day' time to keep reconciliation less challenging. Totals can be cleared at the PHIL machine, but these are totals stored locally to the machine and not the same as a credit card batch.

The 'Clear Totals' function is helpful for reconciliation purposes as well, since it provides a report with figures since the last time the machine was 'cleared' and typically happens at the same time the bill box is emptied from the machine. Credit card transactions that occur at the PHIL will settle with transactions that have occured globally across the system.
