Default When applying for a credit card why does it ask for a major credit card? Is it

easier to get a dept.store cc?? Will that charge my credit card for processing fees, etc. Or if you have a major credit card they will instantly give you one. *It is for a dept. store card. *****Is it easier to get a dept. card before a major credit card?

Yes, it's easier to get a store card than a major one. The store will find it easier to stop your charging if you get in over your head--plus they know that you bought merchandise they might be able to repossess, unlike gas, food, and hotel charges from regular credit card.

You want to get it, use it a few times, and pay before the due date BECAUSE the interest rates of these cards are awful. If you pay regularly for a year or so, this should be a plus for getting a regular card.

Yes it's easier but not smarter. They also charge outragous fees. I would try a regular credit card and use that for all your purchases.
